Hitsugaya frowned upon people who looked down upon him due to his change. He becomes irritated especially when others act childish around him. Many times he can be stubborn with his decisions, however most of the time his intuition serves him well. He dislikes those who draw attention to themselves just because they are in a position to do so. He prefers to act more mature for his apparent age.
During his childhood years, he lived with Hinamori Momo in which he became especially bonded to. Both of them had their quarrels, however did enjoy each others company. He became quite protective over her due to their childhood life and continued to try to watch over her even during his years of becoming a Captain of the 10th squad.
It is a true rarity to ever see Hitsugaya in a care-free mood. Most of the time he takes every action seriously and with maturity beyond his years. Sometimes this is a hinderance to him as he never is truely able to enjoy life sometimes. Even when others egg him on to do something out of the norm such as act a little childish, he quickly puts it down. He deems it too immature for his tastes.
His intuition has served him well, especially when the first traitor emerged in the ranks of the Goetei 13. He can be quite a detective when it comes to snooping around for answers to mysteries due to his serious nature. His stubborness can be a blessing and a hinderance as Hitsugaya rarely backs down out of situations. However sometimes his stubborness blinds him to the truth of a matter at hand.
History:
Hitsugaya, Toshiro grew up in District 1 of Rukongai. District 1 was quite peaceful and law abiding which perhaps formed his own views and paradigms. He lived along with Hinamori. Momo. Frequently as a child, he would poke fun of Momo calling her Bed-Wetter Momo. He enjoyed eating watermelons outside with Momo. The sunsets were quite beautiful and even though he never spoke of them, he always enjoyed them even if he was busy scarfing down watermelons.
When Momo had left to become a Shinigami, Toshiro could care less about it. He was still annoyed at the fact she called him Shiro-Chan. Although after Momo had left, nobody ever visited Toshiro at all. Most were quite afraid of him or felt his personality was too 'cold' to even go near. Eventually he met Rangiku Matsumoto who understood his strong reiatsu. She suggested that he enroll into the academy to learn to control it.
Toshiro reluctantly did and quickly rose through the ranks with his natural talent and ability. Some say he is a child-prodigy since he is the youngest Shinigmi to achieve Captain rank. Ironically, Rangiku became his Vice-Captain in the 10th squad. Hitsugaya still had protective emotions over Momo still, and continued to perhaps be a bit over-protective of her.
During the order of Rukia Kuchiki's execution and the subsequent suspicion of a traitor in their midst, Hitsugaya's intuition had felt Gin Ichimaru had something to do with it. Hitsugaya eventually became dedicated to tracking down exactly what was going on in their own ranks. Gin was under quite a bit of suspicion due to his sly nature and avoidance of questions. Hitsugaya continued to pursue answers to his questions and eventually became more involved after the death of Aizen.
This was a true tragedy and disbelief spread throughout the ranks. Hitsugaya knew how close Momo had been to her Captain, and knew she would be distraught. He yearned to track her down and talk to her about the issue, however talking isn't exactly what happened. Upon finding Momo, she was almost in a crazed state. She was almost controlled by her incredibly connection to Aizen.
She had assaulted Hitsugaya claiming him to be the murderer of her beloved Aizen. Hitsugaya was in disbelief as she blindly assaulted him. He was unsure of what was exactly going on and tried to reason with her, however reason fell quite short. She refused to even talk it out with him. He couldn't believe that all those years they lived with each other, now she didn't even care about him.
He had no choice but to incapacitate her. He couldn't bring himself to even hurt her any further. She was one of his only friends he ever made and refused to lose her even in her state of rage and confusion. Soon he began searching for more clues on what exactly happened. Why did Momo attempt to kill him? It was quite obvious that Aizen apparently left a letter to her prior to his death. He was trying to be framed for Aizen's death. but why?
Hitsugaya, along with Matsumoto left to investigate the Chamber of 46 only to find the entire chamber of members killed. Hitsugaya becomes baffled, and chases down the lone Shinigami inside to find out answers. Eventually he meets up with an undead Aizen who had stabbed Momo. Hitsugaya now infuriated unleashed his Bankai in his rage to kill Aizen. However this ended not well at all, as Aizen's abilities were just too much. He later collapsed from his wound and was later treated.
Time went by as the traitors Aizen as well as Gin and Tousen left to Hueco Mundo. Hitsugaya prepared the squads along with the help of Ichigo and his friends to defend the human world along with Soul Society. The battle all came a few years later when those from the human world along with a few notable Shinigami gave their life to create a protective barrier.
Hitsugaya took it upon himself after the Gotei 13 disbanded that he would watch over the children of those who sacrificed themselves during the Arrancar assault. He felt it was a responsibility for him to take. He would protect them without their knowledge of him. He would guide them with subtle hints in their early years. He would watch over the town they lived in which was Karakura town. Every now and then he would return to Soul Society to report his findings and news. Each time though he purposely avoided Momo making sure she never knew he was around. He couldn't face her at the time, no not after everything that had happened. He was in no means mad at her, but almost afraid to see his old friend again for fear of her state of mind. As more years passed, the Gotei 13 was re-established and Hitsugaya took his place as captain of squad 10 once again before leaving to the Human World for another extended period of time.
He watched them each grow up. Each child resembled their parents in some way shape or form whether it was their looks or personalities. They grew up in peace for years...however Hitsugaya knew this peace wouldn't last. Sooner or later they would learn about the dangers of their world. The barrier that was created would soon weaken enough for them to pass through once again.
Each of them being children from those with strong spiritual energy would probably have known by now they can see spirits. They had probably seen local spirits wandering around. Very few of them probably ever saw a hollow. Hitsugaya would do his best to protect them. He had been out of contact with Soul Society for quite some time and never realized it. Time seemed to go so fast while in the Human World.
He made it a priority to return soon and report back to Soul Society about his findings. Other things pre-occupied his mind though while in the human world. He was concerned with the recent hollow activity. They seemed to be trying to penetrate the barrier which still stood, however with each passing day the barrier became weaker. It would be only a matter of time before it fell.
He almost had forgotten all about Momo. How could he have forgotten such a friend? He never even found out if she recovered from her injuries after that fateful night. Although he still felt strongly for her, he was hesitant about meeting her again. What had become of her? Had she realized the truth that he hadn't killed Aizen? Or was she still in a brain-washed state and attempt to kill him again? He only wished to find out as he watched over the residents of Karakura. He couldn't leave to go back to Soul Society at such a brittle time. The barrier would soon fall, and he knew it.

Kyakou had finally returned to the Fire Nation after being a prisoner outside for such a long time. He soon found that almost the entire village he had once known and grew up in had been conscripted for the war. He simply sighed as he knew his sensei had left as well. There was hardly anything left for him back in the village. From day to day, he would travel to the capital and report to the head intelligence officers of what he had seen during his imprisonment with a Water Tribe.
For the most part, there wasn't much Kyakou could tell them. He was drilled almost like he was an outsider, a traitor. He spoke out a few times against his treatment, however many of the officers disreguarded their concern for him, even though he was of Fire Nation blood. Sure he had it in him, however his appearance could have told other stories. Snow white hair, emerald green eyes, the ability to hardly fire-bend? It was almost a potion ready to cause disaster if he had not been born with Fire Nation blood in him.
After each rigorous 'questioning', Kyakou was free to roam around the Nation for a bit. Mostly he enjoyed taking walks down by the beaches, the water seemed to soothe his memories. A part of him perhaps became connected with those who took him prisoner. He was never at all angry, although that is probably why he could hardly master any advanced fire bending moves. He simply integrated most of the basic and intermediate skills into his sword play which created a whole new fighting style unlike anything other fire benders have done.
However the final day of his so called 'interrogation' as he called it didn't end as usual. Kyakou was sent to a new officer in a dimly lit room only by a few torches. The officer abused him, smacking him with a wooden stick he called Kuku. Kyakou tried to tell him what he told every officer before him. It was the same story over and over, he even memorized what most of the officer's questions were, however this one was different. He didn't ask questions, he simply smacked him everytime he didn't get a good enough response. Kyakou had bruises on his stomach and legs mostly.
Kyakou couldn't understand it. It seemed like an eternity of hell inside that dim room. Kyakou continued to pour his heart and soul into what he had told previous officers. This one just didn't buy any of it. Eventually Kyakou soon felt the whack of the stick against the back of his head. His vision began to blur. The darkness began to mix with the eerie glow of the torches before he collapsed to the ground.
The new officer was one of the new radicals the Fire Nation had produced. Firecely proud in their nation, almost brain washed into doing anything. He believed Kyakou to be a traitor to the cause and had his unconscious body dumped into a nearby body of water. His body floated face up along the water still unconscious until it was a bit away from shore. His body eventually washed up on a somewhat desolated and deserted piece of land.
Kyakou's eyes slightly flickered to life. He felt sore all over his body and noticed how drenched he was. Wait...his vision cleared a bit more to notice the sun beating down on him. He looked around as his eyes adjusted to the light and noticed he was quite aways from shore...wait...they had dumped him out in the water! He couldn't believe they had tried to actually kill him. He laid motionless for a moment before he heard a faint voice in the distance, probably talking to itself. He was slightly worried that it might be some crazy person, however didn't want to bother to try to move. He needed to rest for a bit. He rubbed his white hair which was soaked quite a bit. He focused for a second on his hands as a small jut of fire emmitted from them drying off his hair. He moved the small burning ember-like flame around the rest of him to dry off. He wasn't about to catch a cold, no not at all.
