It was almost evening with the sun beggining to set. The dim orange and yellow rays were cast down upon Karakura and its surroundings. The Karasu river gleamed and sparkled as the sun's rays bounced off the clear water. Toshiro had walked down the side of the road to Karasu River. He left to sit on the river bank every evening and morning to watch the sun set and rise. It was always a beautiful site for him and brought back memories. Memories was one thing Toshiro wished could be true again. Watching the sun set and rise felt like being back with Momo during their childhood years.
Yeah they had their few quarrels and differences but nonetheless, they both would sit outside and watch the sun as beautiful as it was anywhere set and rise. He never admitted to it, but the sun setting and rising always reminded him of Momo and her smile. Like the sun, Momo's smile warmed him slightly, even though he enjoyed the cold very much. Afterall, his Zanpakuto was based around ice and water, why wouldn't he enjoy the cold? He never thought about what Momo thought about him. He always thought of her but never thought what he himself was like in her view.
Toshiro plopped down on the soft green grass and leaned back slightly. He propped himself up slightly onto a nearby tree fixing his emerald eyes on the ever so closing sun. He simply sighed as he rumaged around in the pocket of his faded jeans for his phone. He flipped it open and observed the screen for a moment. Bright green lines outlined the entire layout of Karakura. There was small white blips on the maps signifying those with spiritual energy, in particular the children he was watching over. He glanced for a few more seconds before being satisfied that there weren't any red blips on the map. A red blip would signify a hollow's spiritual energy was present.
He had seen these pop up every so often, however they would quickly fade. He quickly came to the fact that they were merely attempts at hollows to emerge into the Human World. He had only had to dispatch one hollow since he began watching over the children. It wasn't that tough of one at that either, however there was still a fact that they hollow broke through the barrier. Toshiro frowned slightly as he placed the device back into his pocket and took a deep breath.
He knew that he would be staying in the Human World longer this time. He had to make sure nothing had breached the barrier. He had reported his information in the emergency Captain meetings and simply kept everyone updated. He was rather astonished that Byakuya in particular was almost unphased by Rukia Kuchiki's death. He had seen this face before during Rukia's Execution sentence. Perhaps it was just his way to shield himself from every emotion? He certainly admired him for his piousness.
The wind blew gently letting the leaves in the trees rustle slightly. The gentle breeze brushed through Toshiro's white hair making it waver for a moment before it settled back down. There was still a few minutes before the sun would set. Toshiro just wanted to enjoy each of these moments he had. It was probably the closest thing to a friend he had.
